We all know that the internet is a huge driving force in today’s world – not only personally and socially, but in business as well. One thing that not everyone knows is that women are a key component of what makes the internet such a success. Women are more active on most social media sites and are the majority purchasers on major websites such as Zappos, Groupon, and Gilt Groupe. In response to the data, Amazon implemented a new program called “Amazon Mom” in 2010, through which they bought Zappos and Quidsi and inherited Diapers.com, BeautyBar.com and Soap.com.
Why are women so influential when it comes to online business? Among the many reasons is that women oversee more than 80% of consumer spending. They are also more likely to nurture social relationships, which explains their greater activity on social networking sites.
