Our final keynote speaker for the 2007 Conference – Beyond Business As Usual: The Next Ten Years – is now set and on the agenda. I am proud to announce that Susan Masten, co-president of Women Empowering Women for Indian Nations will deliver our fourth and final keynote address on Saturday, April 21. In addition to her outstanding leaderhip, we thought she’d be a great addition because of our Scottsdale, AZ location this year!
Prior to her co-presidency at WEWIN, Masten was elected the President of the National Congress of American Indians (NCAI) in October 1999 and served for one term. She also served as the Yurok Tribal Chairperson from 1997-2004.Masten has provided testimony before Congress, given hundreds of speeches, lead workshops at both college and professional events, including topics such as Tribal Sovereignty, Trust Fund Management, Consultation, Resource Management, Co-Management and Environmental Justice.
