Noteworthy Statistics: Growth of Women-Owned Businesses

The Small Business Administrations’ Office of Advocacy recently released data revealing that the number of women-owned businesses is growing twice as quickly as the national start-up average. Between 1997 and 2002 the number of women-owned firms grew by 19.8%.

Even more inspiring, these companies permeate a variety of sectors and industries. We are pleased to report that the growth and demographics of the WPO reflect this trend as well. While the report noted that almost 80% of the women-owned firms were small businesses with annual receipts totaling less than $50,000, we are confident in their ability to grow quickly and look forward to many more potential WPO members!

Please share the one business practice that you believe has precipitated your company’s fast-growth!
